I've seen this kind of birds on several blogs and just had to try it . I hope to make a small wallhanging with several birds for spring.
One of the blogs is The Patchery Menagerie of Lynne, who makes incredible word quilts.
I do not have much photos yet, of the quilt I chose for this post. I made it for my daughter, who is now staying in Virginia for 10 months and although I knew it almost for 1 year before, that she would leave, I managed to sew on the binding the last afternoon before her flight :-)
Another quilt is finished.. Triangles, started in 2005 with swapped 3" squares from the y2k-swaps, with fabrics from most of the quilts I made until now, with fabrics swapped with the yahoo-list quiltswaps.
So this is new for me :-)
The quilt I want to show was made during a quilt-along / class with Tonya. It was a present for a friend who turned 40 last year and it lives with her since last December.
The colours are quite unusual for me, but I thought my friend would like them. I had a lot of fun piecing houses and trees and the more houses and trees I made, the wonkier they got.
On the top of the quilt are 5 stars which represent her family and as she has cats, of course there had to be some cat-fabric :-)
