winter solstice

This little quilt was planned as a mug rug, but turned out a bit bigger.

I'm happy the days are getting longer again

a bit of colour

I've seen this kind of birds on several blogs and just had to try it . I hope to make a small wallhanging with several birds for spring.
One of the blogs is The Patchery Menagerie of Lynne, who makes incredible word quilts.

Sewing weekend

Finally the ocean squares are sewn together. Maybe the top is too skinny, maybe it needs another row ? Anyway it still needs 2 borders, a very small ( green ? ) one and a larger one.

At the moment it measure 48x84"

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2010

Amy's Creative Side - Blogger's Quilt Festival
Round 2, at least for me :-)

I do not have much photos yet, of the quilt I chose for this post. I made it for my daughter, who is now staying in Virginia for 10 months and although I knew it almost for 1 year before, that she would leave, I managed to sew on the binding the last afternoon before her flight :-)

Here it is in progress

and on its current location :

Looking forward to have her back :-)

And thank you Amy for Blogger's Quilt Festival !!

crumb quilt

I saw the first crumb blocks in blog posts from Bonnie and Tonya and immediately liked them. And after 2 b/w queensize quilts I had a lot of scraps.

The spiky borders made after a tutorial in Collaborative Quilting by Gwen Marston and Freddy Moran didn't make it into DD's quilt, so they were leftovers too.

Which led to this:

It's about 30" square and I'm not yet sure, which side is up :-)

hoar frost

The nights are getting cold...

Another quilt is finished.. Triangles, started in 2005 with swapped 3" squares from the y2k-swaps, with fabrics from most of the quilts I made until now, with fabrics swapped with the yahoo-list quiltswaps.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Spring 2010

So this is new for me :-)
The quilt I want to show was made during a quilt-along / class with Tonya. It was a present for a friend who turned 40 last year and it lives with her since last December.

The colours are quite unusual for me, but I thought my friend would like them. I had a lot of fun piecing houses and trees and the more houses and trees I made, the wonkier they got.
On the top of the quilt are 5 stars which represent her family and as she has cats, of course there had to be some cat-fabric :-)

This is the back with the label ( the star )

preemie quilt 2010

This is one of the 2 preemie quilts I donated in 2010 so far. The back is a beautifl flannel designed by Valerie Wells.

The blocks are made from leftover scraps from a wonky house quilt.
