Bamboo garden

This top is called bamboo garden and it's all  Rachael's fault ;-), because she commented on the centerpiece that  it would look like a bamboo forest.

Yesterday  I pieced another block for my free piecing study quilt:

She turned out a little big, 9" x 17", maybe I'll have to make a smaller one for the quilt.
But I like her anyway ;-)

And I'm very happy that my liberated 9-patch made it into the July Online Quilt Auction

Another finish

Meeresquadrate is bound, the label is on, so it's officially finished :-)

The back is pieced, unfortunately I haven't had enough of the fish fabric. I think it matches perfectly.

The quilt will go to it's new owner on Friday.

Some cell phone pouches have been made too :-)

Center of a new wallhanging in the evening light...

Perfect binding

'Meeresquadrate' is finally quilted, when I look at it, galloping horses come to my mind, don't aks why ;-)
But it's not that bad, at least there are no puckers at the back.

I think it's the first time I ordered a fabric for the binding. Normally I have something matching in my stash or I make a scrappy binding. So when the fabric arrived I was really delighted how it matches the top.

In the next few minutes the European soccer championship starts, so there will be plenty of time to hand sew the binding down .

And another thing I am delighted of : Rachael wrote such a lovely and flattering post about me.
Thank you so much Rachael !

Old wallhangings

In our house don't hang that much quilts, in total 4 I think. The first one greets  you in our staircase when you enter the house. This one is changed according to the season... or so ;-)
When I made the first batch of season wallhangings I made spring, summer, fall, winter and christmas.
But in those more than 14 years of quilting, I made new versions of spring, summer .
As I didn't know what to do with the old ones, I asked for help in the German group Quilt-Sterne and one woman answered she would be happy to have them for kids in wheelchairs to use them for field trips.
I happily included autumn too and sent 3 quilts away:

They are now used in the break room where the kids rest. Now this is much better than getting dusty in the attic !

But this means I need a new fall quilt ;-)
